Textile Banner (Pori Roto)

Pori roto is used as a banner in ceremonies, and old poro roto textiles are treated as heirlooms in Toraja. The tie-dyed technique is a traditional method of patterning cloth that is known in Sulawesi as well as in Bali and Java, where it is called pelangi, meaning “rainbow.”
